Repeating, wavy stitches create inspiring, relaxing and soothing projects that have all the makings of family heirlooms. While not necessarily the easiest projects to take on, an ambitious beginner will be able to tackle one head on after a little practice. Wave stitches will also provide the veteran with a pleasant diversion and open up lots of possibilities of enhancing other projects.

The  wave stitch pattern is a slightly challenging but very rewarding pattern for generating a fancy surface on any blanket or afghan. It would also be useful for a cushion cover or a tote bag… in fact in any project where it a strong surface is required. The interlocking waves make this a very strong stitch, and the distinctness of the rows from one another ensures that you can use shorter lengths of yarn. If the project you are working on isn’t too big, you could probably use up some partial skeins that always seem to accumulate. Please explore this very worthwhile and rewarding technique.

Ocean Waves Stitch Free Crochet Pattern

I would like to show you another amazing stitch. I called it ‘Ocean Weaves’, because it looks just like the ocean surface. Also, the colors used in the photos remind me of sand and water, but of course you can use any colors you want and be sure it will look gorgeous and intriguing.
