Huckleberry Scarf
A person stands outdoors, wrapped in an enchanting blue fringed crochet shawl over a yellow long sweater, reminiscent of an elegant elf coat.
“We’re going up the country, where the water tastes like wine,” sang Canned Heat. I don’t know about the water, but certainly you will look stylish when sporting this wonderful scarf, which is just perfect for accompanying your country clothes. Britches, leggings, a riding coat? No problem, this beautiful piece accessorizes with everything!

Yarn Recommendations for Huckleberry Scarf

This crochet scarf pattern calls for bulky weight yarn, making it a great option for fall and winter weather. The original design features Lion Brand Color Made Easy, but unfortunately, it is no longer available to buy.

If you’re looking for a substitute, Paintbox Yarns Simply Chunky and Loops & Threads Charisma are great alternatives for this project. Both yarns are soft, chunky, and 100% acrylic.

The designer also made a medium-weight version of this scarf project using Yarn Bee Soft and Sleek.

Crochet Techniques Used in This Pattern

The Huckleberry Scarf can be made by anyone who knows basic crochet stitches, including chains and half double crochets. It is worked in rows, and you will make all stitches using the back-loop-only technique. For the final touch, you can finish your handmade accessory with a fun country-style tassel fringe.

The gauge is not super important for this project, but it will certainly affect the final size of the scarf.

Finished Size and Adjustability

If you’re looking for a cozy outfit accessory, this triangle scarf offers generous coverage. The wrap is 53” long from the top and 42.5” along each side. That’s quite a lot of fabric that you can drape elegantly over your shoulders or wrap comfortably around your neck.

Note: The final measurements may differ depending on the materials used, gauge, and tension.

How Long Does It Take to Complete?

Despite its large size, this crocheted scarf works up fast, especially when made with bulky yarn and a 6.5 mm hook. If you’re a quick-paced crafter, you should be able to complete it within one weekend.
