Granny crochet is usually associated with blankets or afghans… but here is an interesting take, a meld of granny crochet and a mandala. This project uses granny crochet stitching in a circular fashion to create a rondelle mandala of concentric rings. Unlike traditional mandalas, there is no actual radial pattern, but, instead, the individual blocks serve that role. But, why limit yourself to a simple geometric shape? Try the granny hex puppy dog, and you will know the true potential of granny crochet. If you can make both a round mandala AND a huggable, cute puppy dog, then what limit is there? A link to the free pattern is below photos.
