Walter the Wolf Amigurumi

Find your pattern
Walter the Wolf Amigurumi
A crocheted gray koala, crafted from a free crochet pattern, sits on rocks with its front view on the left and back view on the right. The background features grass and out-of-focus rocks, creating a serene setting for this cuddly creation.

Walter is a cute and cuddly wolf who’s sure to be a favourite with the young and old alike. The pattern is not difficult to work, and if you use safety eyes, Walter will be a suitable toy for the youngest candidate, Mowgli. Of course, since wolves run in packs, why not make a pack of Walters in all different colors? Do it for yourself!

Yarn and Tools You’ll Need

The crochet wolf pattern by Jess Huff calls for medium-weight yarn and a 3.5 mm hook. You can use a yarn of your choice or go for the one suggested by the designer.

Red Heart Super Saver is a soft 100% acrylic yarn in aran weight that is available in beautiful solid colors, including several shades of grey that fit this wolf design perfectly.

Apart from that, you will also need a pair of 15 mm safety eyes, fiber fill, and a yarn needle for sewing the pieces together and weaving in.

Crochet Techniques You’ll Practice

All parts of this crochet wolf amigurumi are worked separately. Most of them are done in rounds, the only exception is the inner ear sections, which you will crochet in rows.

The pattern doesn’t require a lot of colorwork, but prepare for quite a lot of sewing, stuffing, and assembling its pieces together.

The stitches used for making this crochet wolf are common amigurumi techniques, including single crochet stitches, increases, invisible decreases, and knowing how to do the magic ring.

How Big Will Walter the Wolf Amigurumi Be?

When made with recommended yarn weight and hook size, you will get a plush crochet toy that is about 14″ tall. These measurements make Walter just perfect for cuddles or imaginative play. Give him to your kid and see how quickly he will become their best wolfie companion!

Customizing Your Crochet Wolf Toy

As with most handmade toys, you have creative freedom to personalize it in any way you want. Be it an elegant bow, a lovely ribbon, or a cheerful collar bell. The most iconic wolf’s look features grey colors, but how about turning it into a cute arctic wolf or a magnificent black alpha?
