Stormy Day Wrap
Introducing the Stormy Day Wrap: a crochet scarf with green, gray, and black stripes, accented by sleek black tassels. Artfully displayed on a wooden surface, this piece combines comfort and style. Perfect as an accessory or crafted through a free crochet pattern for personal flair.

This beautiful wrap will be perfect for a chilly summer night or for autumn days. The Lion Brand Mandala yarn was used to make this shawl, but you can use pretty much any yarn you like.

What Makes the Stormy Days Shawl Beginner-Friendly?

This crochet shawl pattern features the arcade stitch, which is a combination of basic crochet stitches, including chains, single crochet, and double crochet. It’s a simple yet efficient design that creates a beautiful eyelet texture.

If you don’t know how to work the arcade stitch, then no need to worry.  Megan Meyer, the designer of this pattern, provides a step-by-step video tutorial to help you along the way!

What Yarn Weight is Recommended for This Wrap?

The Stormy Days Wrap pattern calls for a Lion Brand Mandala, which is a DK weight yarn. It has a good drape and warm feel without being overly heavy. The continuous color changes of the mandala yarn help to bring out the beauty of the arcade stitch without the extra work of color changes by hand.

If you do decide to swap out for another brand, any light DK yarn will suffice.

Can I Adjust the Shawl Size for a More Oversized Fit?

The Stormy Days Wrap is easily adjustable in width and length. You can increase your shawl’s width by adding stitches to the starting chain. As for length, just keep repeating rows 2-5 until you get to the size you want. For an even more dramatic appearance, consider working tassels or fringe at the ends!
