Cheers! Squares up! This crochet square project, seen below, was inspired by Polly Plum’s viral pattern. Unlike the original piece featuring deep, vibrant colors, this beautiful variant uses a toned-down palette to great effect. Note how the central square in orange is totally offset by its cool and wintery surroundings. It’s so evocative of a winter evening’s bonfire, isn’t it?
Best Material Choices for Cheers Square
If you want your crochet squares to turn out really beautiful, follow the pattern’s supply recommendations. The original design features Red Heart With Love, while the version photographed below uses Hobby Lobby I Love This Yarn.
Would you like to use a different brand? No problem, just make sure your yarn has a medium weight. If you plan on making a blanket, acrylic fibers will do great, giving your item the right amount of warmth and softness without too much weight.
For this pattern, you will need a 5.5 mm crochet hook to achieve the right gauge.
Techniques Used In This Crochet Square Pattern
Wondering whether you have enough skill to tackle it? The Cheers Square pattern features an intricate textured design that involves several crochet techniques and will suit those with intermediate experience.
Each square is worked in the round using post stitches, popcorn, trebles, and V-stitches. If you are familiar with these techniques, you are good to go and start working on this project.
