If you are looking for a simple sweater with a lovely design for your child, the Baby Bear Crochet Hoodie Pattern certainly cannot go unnoticed. Lorna Miser designed it in a sweet pink color palette with a simple striped layout and a cute hoodie with bear ears.

What Sizes Does The Baby Bear Hoodie Pattern Include?

You can make this adorable crochet hoodie for a baby or a toddler. The pattern provides instructions to create a sweater in sizes 6, 12, and 18 months. To make a garment in a given size, follow the stitch count specified in brackets.

Recommended Yarn And Hook

The Baby Bear Crochet Hoodie is made in 100% acrylic medium-weight yarn, resulting in a delightfully soft and warm fabric. The sample visible in the pictures features Red Heart Bunches of Hugs in a variegated colorway. Since this yarn has been discontinued, consider using these substitutes:

  • Stylecraft Special Aran
  • Red Heart Super Saver
  • Hobby Essentials Aran

The pink color can be swapped for the blue one if you would like to make this crochet baby hoodie more suitable for a boy. You will also need a 5 mm hook size to obtain the gauge.

How the Baby Bear Crochet Hoodie is Worked

This crochet baby sweater pattern is truly effortless to make if you know basic techniques. You work it in one piece from the neck down using double crochets, treble crochets, and chains.

The sleeves are crocheted directly onto the body in rounds and you will also stitch up a cozy hood along the neck edge.

The bear ears are the only elements that require sewing. Use stitch markers to mark the sewing position and then sew them to the top of the hood. As a last step, be sure to add buttons so you can quickly zip up your little one when it gets cold.
