I’m a craft designer and author of hundreds of articles and reviews about crocheting and other crafts. I search out and present novel approaches to classic patterns and techniques to encourage you to try something new. I’m delighted that so many of you read my posts and that I can contribute to promoting our crochet community. I’m interested in crafts, interior design and love traveling and sitting next to a campfire. I live with my husband and three kids in the Rockies.

The Magnolia Crossbow square is a large afghan square, 10” or 12” on a side depending on the yarn used, that has a magnolia blossom as its central motif, surrounded by geometric patterns inspired by crossbows. This is a lovely project that has great potential for color variation, but is particularly attractive in subdued hues, with a slight pop to the magnolia blossom. The square can be used on its own, or stitched together to make larger projects, and will pose an interesting challenge allowing you to hone your skills. A link to a free pattern is at the end of the post.
