I’m a craft designer and author of hundreds of articles and reviews about crocheting and other crafts. I search out and present novel approaches to classic patterns and techniques to encourage you to try something new. I’m delighted that so many of you read my posts and that I can contribute to promoting our crochet community. I’m interested in crafts, interior design and love traveling and sitting next to a campfire. I live with my husband and three kids in the Rockies.

Not all projects require huge amounts of yarn. Some need only a bit to make wonderful clothes and accessories.

Just to prove that point, here are some free crochet patterns for One Skein Baby Blankets made specifically using just one skien. These are beautiful, soft and cozy patterns yet easy patterns for that most treasured of accessories: the baby blanket. Indeed, all of these will be gift-worthy and highly appreciated presents for a baby shower or a first visit with a new family member. Aside from that, they will be great projects in their own right and you’ll get lots of enjoyment by simply making them.

One Ball Shells Baby Blanket

Here is a shell-stitched single-skein blanket that makes use of shell stitching to give a wavy fish scale effect. Coupled with a gentle, pastel color palette this is a sure winner.

Here is another cost effective, single-skein baby blanket you can whip up in no time flat. A repeating pattern of two rows is surprisingly easy to memorize and quick follow with your fingers, especially in a monochrome blanket. A link to the free pattern is at the end of the post.
