Memory Mandala Free Crochet Pattern

It’s been a while since we’ve seen some interesting mandala patterns here on YC, and that’s a shame, because mandalas are some of the most attractive and fun crochet projects around, ranging from the simple and trifling to absolutely epic and intricate.

Without further ado, here is a beautiful pentagonal mandala centered on a wild rose rosette. This beautiful and airy project makes great use of voids to define the shape of the central flower and to give the concentric pentagons an interesting texture. This will be a great standalone project, or a wonderful building block for a blanket, if you combine it with some hexagons to make up the missing spaces, like on a traditional soccer ball. If you prefer a more traditional circular mandala wheel, why not try the Starflower Mandala pattern? This is also a beautiful piece that uses lacework and voids to build a wonderful starburst, which stresses its radial symmetry rather than concentricity. One concept, and so many ways to carry it out, amazing!
