I’m a craft designer and author of hundreds of articles and reviews about crocheting and other crafts. I search out and present novel approaches to classic patterns and techniques to encourage you to try something new. I’m delighted that so many of you read my posts and that I can contribute to promoting our crochet community. I’m interested in crafts, interior design and love traveling and sitting next to a campfire. I live with my husband and three kids in the Rockies.

One approach to making afghans is to crochet small squares, and produce a blanket with a fine visual texture instead of large surface panels, These flower-themed blocks are ideal for this, as they have a colorful floral accent on a white background with a border. This is a traditional color layout, but the color palette and the shape fo the flowers are modern, giving this afghan block an updated, jaunty look that will go well with a contemporary interior. A link to a free pattern is at the end of the post.
