Winter in all colors

While it’s mid summer, I know many of you planning next projects well in advance, especially when you can see a yarn sale. Therefore, as you rebuild your stash, here are some great ideas for long fall evenings. Overall, this post its called Shades of Winter, because there are no 2 identical winters and because winter differs from state/province/country. So, actually it’s really many shades! Thus, you can not only play with the colors, but also make thematic blankets appropriate to different places and times.

To begin with, these shades of winter will put you in mind of a winter whiteout, with its swirly and foggy appearance. Moreover, you can easily adapt the size of this blanket by joining squares to any size you like. While it’s usually made in cool winter white and blue colors, you can achieve a very optimistic and joyful efect with the Scheepjes Riverwashed Stonewashed color pack.

In a similar fashion, these shades of winter also combine the browns, blues and whites of a wintry day in the country. However, these aren’t contrasted with black, giving them a slightly misty appearance. Thus, it’s as if there was a fine dusting of snow in the air.

Cozy Winter Blanket

Finally, here is a less complicated monochromatic blanket that shows how shades of winter can be simple. However, even though it’s simple, it’s still beautiful and cozy. Better still, crocheting in the front loop and the back loop is all you need to know to make this wonderful piece.
