About the Author

Hi! I’m Aymara, a crochet designer from Argentina. I’ve been designing and creating crochet patterns for several years, developing original projects with special attention to detail and making sure my instructions are clear and easy to follow. Although amigurumi is an important part of my work, I enjoy exploring different areas of crochet and creating all kinds of projects, from decorative pieces to functional designs. I love turning an idea into a finished project and sharing it with others through my patterns.

I live with my husband in a small, peaceful town in Argentina, surrounded by nature. I enjoy traveling, discovering new places, and appreciating the simple moments in life. I also enjoy playing paddle tennis whenever I have the opportunity. All of these experiences are part of my inspiration and influence the way I create.

For a long time, I worked creating crochet designs and patterns for other people. Recently, I decided to take a new step and start working for myself, slowly building my own shop and social media presence, where I can share and sell my own designs.

I’m sharing my links with you:

Notes Before Starting:

Take a few minutes to read through the entire pattern before you start. This will help you clearly understand the order of the steps, the materials needed, and the techniques used, making the process easier and more enjoyable. Make sure you have all your materials ready before beginning.

In this pattern, the different parts of the giraffes are crocheted separately and then sewn together to assemble each figure.

I will guide you step by step through crocheting and assembling each giraffe. Don’t worry if something doesn’t turn out perfect the first time; the most important thing is to enjoy the process and learn as you go. The pattern is clearly explained so you can crochet with confidence.

These giraffes were designed primarily as a special Valentine’s Day gift, perfect for expressing love and affection through a handmade piece. They can also be used as decorative items, baby shower or nursery decor, or as a unique handmade gift for any special occasion.

For care instructions, always hand wash gently with cold water and mild soap. Do not use a washing machine or dryer. Let them dry flat on a towel at room temperature, and handle the details carefully to keep them in perfect condition.

And most importantly: enjoy the process and don’t get frustrated if something doesn’t turn out perfect the first time.

Each giraffe you make will be unique and special.

If you have any questions, doubts, or would like to show me your finished giraffes, you’ll find my contact information at the end of the PDF.

I would love to see your work and be part of your creative journey!

Assembling

1. Sew the body to the head starting at round 12 of the head, where the color change begins. Make sure to align both pieces properly so the join is neat and centered.

2. Sew the arms between rounds 28 and 29 of the body.

3. Sew the legs between rounds 6 and 7 of the body.

4. Sew the horns onto the head starting at round 20.

Place them symmetrically, leaving 3 stitches of spacing between them so they are evenly aligned.

5. Sew the ears between rounds 19 and 20 of the head, placing them on each side and leaving 2 stitches of space from the horns.

6. Sewing complete.

A white and pink giraffe amigurumi toy.

Make another giraffe following the same steps, but using Light Blue and White yarn instead. Keep the same pieces, sizes,

and placements; only change the yarn colors to create a second giraffe in that color combination.

Accessories for each Giraffe

Girl Giraffe

Skirt

Start with Pink yarn

Rnd 1: Make 48 chains, skip the first 6, and work 42 single crochets starting from the next chain (42)

Rnd 2: 1 ch and turn the fabric, then work 42 sc (42)

Rnd 3: 1 ch and turn, 42 sc, then make a slip stitch in the first stitch of the row to close and join the work in the round (42)

This creates a small buttonhole at the beginning of the row, which will be used to fasten the skirt later.

Rnd 4: 3 ch and, in the same stitch where you made them, work 2 dc; then continue with 3 dc in each stitch until the end of the round, and close with a sl st in the third chain of the beginning.

Rnd 5: Repeat round 4: 3 ch and 2 dc in the same stitch, then continue with 3 dc in each stitch until the end of the round, and close with a sl st in the third chain of the beginning.

Pink crocheted ruffle scrunchie, perfect for those who enjoy a crochet pumpkin pattern style.

Rnd 6: Change to white yarn: 1 sc in each stitch, slip stitch to join. Cut the yarn and hide it inside the piece, then use sewing thread to attach the button.

Place the skirt.

Using red yarn, embroider a small U- shaped mouth on the giraffe’s face.

Then, apply a little blush to the cheeks.

Boy Giraffe

Straps – make 2

With Light Blue yarn

Rnd 1: Make 30 chains, skip the first 5, and work 25 single crochets starting from the next chain (25)

Cut the yarn, leaving a long enough tail for sewing.

Then, using a yarn needle, sew the strap pieces onto the giraffe as if they were overall straps.

Finally, attach the buttons at the top of the straps to secure them, using the image as a guide.

Pocket

Start with Light Blue yarn

Rnd 1: Make 11 chains, and starting from the second chain from the hook, work 10 single crochets (10)

Rnd 2-7: 1 sc in each stitch (10)

A small, square swatch of light blue crochet held in a person’s palm, reminiscent of the textures seen in a pumpkin crochet pattern.

Change to White yarn

Rnd 8: 1 sc in each stitch (10)

Cut the yarn, then sew the pocket as shown in the image.

You can add a note or special detail in the pocket, for example:

a little note, some rings, or any other detail you want for Valentine’s Day. This makes the pocket both decorative and functional,

giving a personal touch to the gift.

Next, I will make a mini heart that will go inside the pocket.

Mini Heart

Use Red yarn

In a magic ring, work: 3 ch, 3 treble crochets (tr), 4 dc, 1 tr, 4 dc, 3 tr,

3 ch, slip stitch.

Two crochet giraffe toys sit side-by-side on white fur, echoing the style of a free crochet pumpkin pattern against a pink heart-patterned background.
