Crown Ear Warmer
a red crochet headband shaped like a crown

Dress like a true queen with this crochet headband shaped like a crown! Erangi Udeshika designed an awesome accessory that offers a playful way to keep your head warm. This headband will be particularly fun to wear for kids and teens as they can use it while playing or partying. It will also make a great addition to a princess costume or dress-up photoshoot!

Is This Crochet Crown Ear Warmer Difficult?

This crochet headband project is perfectly tailored to those with some experience, though upper beginners can also give it a try.

The pattern breaks into four parts. First, you will crochet a cozy ribbed band and then continue with several rounds of half double crochets worked in the long side of the band.

After that, you start creating the crown’s iconic shape with treble crochets and picots. The last round involves finishing the headband top with an extra round for a neat edging.

What Yarn Works Best For A Crochet Crown?

It all depends on how thick, warm, and soft you want your crochet crown ear warmer to be. The designer recommends using medium-weight yarn such as Red Heart Super Saver. It’s a 100% acrylic yarn with a very soft feel, so if you’re crafting this accessory for kids, it will surely make the finished headband comfortable to wear for little ones.

How Do I Adjust The Size For A Child Or Adult?

The pattern includes instructions for two sizes: Child and Teen/Adult. To make a headband in children’s size (17.5”), work 54 rows for the ribbed band. In contrast, the adult size (20”) requires 66 rows. To adjust the fit of your headband, you can also try using a smaller hook if you want to make it tighter or a bigger hook to get it looser.
