I’m a craft designer and author of hundreds of articles and reviews about crocheting and other crafts. I search out and present novel approaches to classic patterns and techniques to encourage you to try something new. I’m delighted that so many of you read my posts and that I can contribute to promoting our crochet community. I’m interested in crafts, interior design and love traveling and sitting next to a campfire. I live with my husband and three kids in the Rockies.

One of the greatest aspects of crocheting is that you can combine known stitches in new ways to produce unique and entirely novel items. Here are some projects that use multiple techniques in a single pattern to produce beautiful blankets that are also an overview of varied techniques. These are truly beautiful patterns that will keep you motivated and interested in perfecting different stitches and their combinations.

Spring is upon us, the weather is getting warmer, so it may be time to break out the patterns for airier and more lacy projects. The MM blanket is one such project, composed of four triangular quarters and concentric bands of lacy crochet of varying densities and colors. This is a beautiful piece that will be cherished by all crocheters and lucky recipients.

Rainbow Sampler Blanket Free Crochet Pattern

The Rainbow Sampler throw is easy. It needn’t be perfect, in fact it shouldn’t be. You simply crochet together every distinct type of crochet stitch in a sequence of rows. It’s a good idea to experiment with the rows to see which sequence of textures and colors works best for you. The instructions are only general, but that is on purpose, because it’s up to you to figure out “how she goes”. As you follow the pattern, every once in a while you may need to adjust the stitching in order to match sizes and/or weave, but that is the fun of this project.
