Pot Scrubby
Colorful handmade crochet scrubbers in orange, blue, green, pink, and purple are held in a hand and displayed on a surface. Perfect for adding a splash of color to your cleaning routine, these pot scrubbies offer both style and functionality.

Washing dishes will be a fancy activity with this handmade scrubby! This crocheted scrubby by Suzy Myers is made of nylon netting to easily clean all pots and pans, no matter how dirty they are. You can use this pattern as a gift idea or just make pot scrubbies in many colors only for you to recycle any nylon netting you have. Fun, easy, and useful, this project is a slightly different take on typical crochet.

What You Need For This Project

Before you start, prepare these materials:

  • 6 or 4 mm crochet hook
  • 1/2 yard of nylon netting per scrubby
  • scissors
  • ruler

While nylon netting works best, you can also try tulle or other mesh materials for varying textures and colors.

Crochet Techniques for Maximum Scrubbing Power

Using double crochet stitches in the back loops creates a textured, rough surface that is perfect for scrubbing pots and pans. The circular shape ensures even coverage, and decreasing at the top forms a compact, bowl-like design that fits well in your hand.

One great thing about this pattern is how easy it is to adjust – just keep crocheting until you reach your desired size.

How to Keep Your Scrubby Clean and Hygienic

Nylon netting dries quickly and resists mold, so it’s already a clean choice. After each use, rinse it well with warm water and let it air dry. For a deeper clean, you can pop it in the dishwasher or soak in a hot water and vinegar mixture.

If your scrubby shows wear, simply crochet a new one! They’re quick to make, so you can have a fresh batch in no time.

Do you have a video? Can this be done using a magic loop? I’m not sure what you mean by join. And if I do a magic loop do I chain two after my magic loop then double crochet 10 times in the loop. Then when you say join I’m not really sure what to do.
