On a scale of 1 to 5, how cute are these handmade stuffies? If you’re looking for a cuddly toy for your kids, these Amigurumi Milk Elephants will capture every little heart. They feature playful dangling limbs, soft trunks, and big colorful eyes, so they’re truly irresistible. Their precious expressions and squishy bodies mean they’ll also work great as birthday and Valentine’s Day gifts.

Are The Milk Elephants Easy To Crochet?

This crochet plushie project, designed by Daria Titova, requires a good knowledge of amigurumi techniques. You work it in separate pieces using single crochet stitches in spiral rounds. The use of increases and decreases and proper stuffing is key to achieving a beautiful shape. Once all parts are ready, they’re sewn together, and you can finish your elephant toy with extra details like brows and eyelashes.

Which Crochet Hook Should You Choose?

The pattern recommends using a 4 mm crochet hook paired with a chenille yarn. You can downsize it though, if you want the toy to be smaller. The designer used a 4 mm hook to make the boy elephant and a 2.5 mm hook to crochet the girl elephant.

What Other Supplies Are Needed For This Project?

Apart from a crochet hook and plush chenille yarn such as Himalaya Dolphin Baby or YarnArt Dolce Baby, you will also need some polyester filling for stuffing your crochet elephant plushie. The pattern also uses a small amount of regular semi-cotton yarn in a pink color for the ears. To give your toy a nice polished look, don’t forget to prepare a pair of 20 mm slanted pupil eyes.
