Little square tiles are very popular in the world of crochet, and I know exactly why – they are so versatile and fun to make! Little pieces can be joined together or used separately, as coasters, for example. It’s easy to enclose any design in a square shape, and one of the most loved is flowers. This lovely theme can be interpreted in drastically different ways, depending on what you want to accomplish. Three-dimensional pieces are very dramatic, while simple and flat ones appear to be more graphic. The shape of the flower can either be hidden or emphasized by the colors used, and they are equally, or even more important than the stitches. Crochet Flower Squares can be used to create stunning afghans, table runners, bags and even toys, so find one you like the most and start crocheting! Links to free patterns are under the pictures.

Weekend in Stockholm Throw
Classic Scandinavian-inspired crochet is a great way to add a rustic accent to a modern decor, or to really polish up the old timey appearance of a vintage interior. The Weekend in Stockholm throw is a traditional square-based blanket with flower centers. The background is densely stitched, giving the blanket a heavy drape, but the flowers themselves use voids to outline and highlight the petals. This is a beautiful project whose appearance belies the fact that it is relatively easy to make. This is a beautiful pattern that you will turn into an accessory to be cherished forever.
