“Gingham” comes from Malay and means “striped”.

Usually, it’s best known form is a two-color pattern, and popular combinations are red and white or blue and white, to list two. Below, you will find some modern gingham patterns with two shades of one color. In effect, the blanket looks more interesting but still keeps its simple design. This is a great theme for crocheting, and as an illustration here are some free crochet patterns that will surely make you love this design. A link to free patterns you will find under the photos.

Nine Square Gingham Blanket

Here is a slightly modified and fun project with a lovely pattern of intersecting pink stripes. The intersections additionally show intensified color, giving the blanket a more colorful look.

Crystal Waves Free Crochet Pattern

This blanket is based on the Crystal Waves stitch which gives it an intriguing texture in addition to its gingham pattern. The final effect is very modern and cozy. Following this pattern, you will get a 40- 1/2 inch wide and 44 inch long blanket.
