Cowls are a great way to keep your neck warm and increase your cool factor. They are generally an easy project to make, but produce spectacular results. While they sometimes have relatively benign textures (and a good thing too, you don’t want great, rough swaths of cloth around the neck), they more than make up for this in their dizzying variety of colors and patterns.

Easily make a stunning, colorful cowl and yet build up your quiver of techniques. What could be better? This easy pattern is an amazing piece that actually results from quite an easy pattern. An ambitious beginner wishing to learn the Tunisian stitch will find this project to be a diverting challenge. Of course, you can really mix it up with the colors, and make versions to suit different outfits, different moods or different recipients – guaranteed to be thrilled with their new cowl.

Dotty Cowl Free Crochet Pattern

And now, for something thicker. The Dotty Cowl is double-layered and reversible cowl… Indeed it’s inversitle, as it has both an outer side and an inner side that can switch roles. It has a thick, luxuriant feel and a “drapiness” that is thinner, single-layered items just can’t match. As shown, the contrast between the beige and blue-purple sides gives the latter an almost opalescent appearance. You will be sure to look great wrapped in this amazing scarf.
