Preemies, those most helpless and precious of creatures, need tender care.
What better way to take care of that sweet little pate, than to crochet a soft, gently stretchy cap to keep it warm? Indeed, there are none, so here are some ideas for crocheted beanies for small babies in general, and preemies in particular. As well as being super cute preemie hats, these are all easy and highly modifiable patterns. Therefore you shouldn’t have any problems modifying them to fit the needs of the baby in question and the tastes of her mother.
Newborn Hat and Slippers
This is an adorable ensemble for that one cutest baby girl, your daughter or granddaughter. However, you can change the color or omit/alter the applique and this pattern can be made appropriate for a baby boy as well. This project is a great idea for a rest in the middle of a larger WIP. This is particularly true because you don’t need any additional yarn, just some leftover stash from other projects.

10 Minute Preemie Hat
Need a preemie hat quick? Look no further! This preemie beanie will quite literally fly off the hook in circa 10 minutes in the hands of a capable crocheter. Moreover, even those less experienced among us won’t require much more time to make these. Consequently, because these are so easy and quick, they’d be great as a donation for a local hospital’s neonate/preemie ward or shelter.
