Circle Bag
A round blue woven handbag, reminiscent of a circle bag, with brown handles is placed on a blue cushioned chair next to a decorative blue and white pillow.

A new bag is a must for the summer, but on most occasions when I see one I like, the price is absolutely overwhelming. Sounds familiar? If so, why not make a bag by yourself? The Circle Bag, designed by Ashlea Konecny, will be an easy and fun project to make for yourself or a friend!

Why You’ll Love This Bag

Although it looks very elegant, this handmade project can be used as an everyday bag as well. The round-shaped construction makes it a roomy accessory that will fit both smaller and larger items, like a water bottle or document folders.

The design features two strong leather handles that not only look super chic but are also comfortable to use, especially when the bag gets heavy.

Supplies Required for This Pattern

All you need to crochet this circle bag is nylon thread, leather straps, and a 4 mm crochet hook. The original design was made with Artiste #18 Nylon Thread, but it is no longer available. Instead, you can use Hilo Nylon No. 18 (La Espiga) – Omega.

A heavy-duty thread and heavy-duty needle will come in handy when sewing the leather straps.

Can I Add a Zipper or Magnetic Snap?

To secure your belongings, it’s better to sew on a clip. This particular pattern uses a 3/4″ sew-on magnetic clasp. It’s an easy way to add a bit more functionality to your handmade accessory. You just need to attach it to the top of both inner sides of the bag.
