Lacy cardigans are just the thing for a waning summer and early fall.

Why is crochet lace such a beautiful and versatile technique? In fact, it’s because it’s the one crocheting application in which the voids are at least as important as the stitched portions. In reality, the crocheted sections are merely an outline to the voids. Interestingly, while the intricacy of the patten determines the difficulty of a particular piece, overall lace work is actually fairly easy. It’s great for quickly working up a garment that says YOU. Moreover, you could use ombre yarns to great effect, but the nice thing is you don’t have to. The variegated texture made using this technique works equally well, or perhaps even better in monochrome.

Lacy Top Cardigan

The Lacy Top cardigan is a beautiful, casual example of this form of crocheting. Even though it is patterned, the intricate arrangement of voids gives it an almost random appearance that seems to move and shimmer. The neckline tie-off is just the cherry on top of a wonderful project.
