I’m a craft designer and author of hundreds of articles and reviews about crocheting and other crafts. I search out and present novel approaches to classic patterns and techniques to encourage you to try something new. I’m delighted that so many of you read my posts and that I can contribute to promoting our crochet community. I’m interested in crafts, interior design and love traveling and sitting next to a campfire. I live with my husband and three kids in the Rockies.

The fleece blanket is a wonderful way of melding soft, cozy fleece fabric with a delicate, fancy crocheted border. The fleecy squares (12″ on a side) are jointed with a highly decorative crocheted seam, and then “encapsulated” in a lacy, airy edging that gives a simple blanket that extra snazzy touch. You can even use this simply to edge an existing blanket, not just one made of squares. A link to free patterns is included under the photos.

You can theme these for kids, or for adults, and you can modify the pattern for size to match any size of blanket needed. This is a great idea for a decorative bedspread that you can make out of a spare blanket or some unwanted cushion covers. Here you can see more edges for fleece baby blankets:
