We’ve done square blankets, we’ve done square-based blankets, so et’s vary it up a bit. Here are some crocheted rectangle blanket ideas that will have you a-hooking away merrily.
The resulting blankets are beautiful, highly decorative and so much fun to make. These are all the more enjoyable since they are not layouts of repeating blocks, but are composed of large, continuous surfaces. Moreover, they show that a single pattern still gives you a lot of room for variety and modification.

This blanket is a somewhat difficult but still feasible pattern. It has a lovely, dense and defining center. Moreover, the varied bands of stitching have a series of voids defining its texture. However, the use of subtle color changes is what really breathes life into the final project. Although not the easiest pattern, it’s still eminently doable. Therefore, this will be a wonderful accent for your home, or much cherished heirloom.

Modern Granny Blanket Free Crochet Pattern
This is a modern take on the granny afghan, which uses interwoven blocks instead of squares. This enables the crocheter to make a much tighter, fine-grained blanket without the large squares a traditional granny square afghan would have. Also, the size is adjustable, and this project can be adapted into a baby blanket. It’s a great, alternative way to crochet granny afghans, blankets or throws.
