I’m a craft designer and author of hundreds of articles and reviews about crocheting and other crafts. I search out and present novel approaches to classic patterns and techniques to encourage you to try something new. I’m delighted that so many of you read my posts and that I can contribute to promoting our crochet community. I’m interested in crafts, interior design and love traveling and sitting next to a campfire. I live with my husband and three kids in the Rockies.

Dogs are also a wonderful motif for crocheting. You can make crocheted canines as playful and cartoonish as you like or so realistic that you half expect them to bark.

These lovely pooches have the long snouts of a Lab or a Setter, and are just the cutest thing. The pattern consists of several simple, elongated amigurumi shapes stuffed and joined together, with the extremities, ears and nose stitched on. If you do plan to make this toy as a gift to the youngest kynologists, please consider crocheting the eyes for safety. A link to the free pattern is at the end of the post.

Speaking of playful pooches, how about Buffy Amigurumi Dogs? They are also ultra-cute and playful, and will be a treasured toy. They look a bit like Snoopy’s cousins, so they will be a touch of nostaliga for older “kids” as well.
