African flower crochet: beautiful, versatile and unique.
While squares are an ever-popular and always well received, there is no limitation on the shape of the building blocks you use. Indeed, here are some projects that demonstrate that even African flower squares can be a super building block. You can make them in any size, texture or color, and consequently each project will be truly and uniquely yours. Try it for yourself, you will doubtless be surprised and impressed. I was.
African Flower Owl
The African Flower owl is an applique combining an owl with beady eyes (how cute is that?!) as well as an African violet. This is a great project that you can use to decorate literally anything. Also, because it its a small design, you can make it using those pesky yarn scraps that always seem to accumulate all over the place. Moreover, you can also make two of these, and stuff them to make a cute stuffie children’s toy, although crocheted eyes would be preferred for the smallest of recipients.

Lazy Kitty
The lazy kitty is a beautiful project, put together much like a traditional soccer ball. The hexagonal and pentagonal shapes neatly fold around and form its body. Lastly, the colorful flowers really lend themselves to an attractive and beautiful toy.
