This is a very elegant crochet triangle shawl that will surely be a hit with any wardrobe! The variable stitch and multitude of colours make it a real showcase for your skills, as well as a chance to practice different stitches. The colour set selected is entirely up to you, but we think that a matched palette, as below, gives the best effect.
Yarn Suggestions
The first thing you should do is gather the right materials. Johanna Lindahl, a talented designer who created this beautiful pattern, used 8 skeins of Scheepjes Catona in colors 173, 179, 240, 247, 282, 383, 39,3 and 394 for the version seen in the photos. This 100% cotton yarn in fingering weight is great for making summer accessories.
Another great option is Scheepjes Secret Garden (nr 705). It’s a soft DK-weight yarn made of a silk, cotton, and polyester blend.
How to Crochet the Taiga Shawl
This wonderful crochet shawl is a great project for those who have their first lacework under their belt. The body features a repetitive stitch pattern before moving on to work the picot border. The pattern uses mainly single and double crochets as well as some puff stitches.
Note: The pattern is available as a chart.
Size Customization Tips
Adjusting the size of your handmade shawl is very easy once you get the hang of the stitch pattern. In this project, you can keep working rows 3-9 as much as you want. The designer suggests repeating them seven or nine times, depending on the size you like for your shawl.
I absolutely loved making this shawl. I had it on my couch sitting there looking pretty my friend came over squealed her like of it. Put it on and said I’ll take it. Lol.
I’d like too add pic it won’t let me.
