Vintage Peach Shawl
A light pink, lacy triangular shawl with a white crochet edge is displayed on a hanger and draped over a mannequin.

This handmade lacy shawl is such a wonderful accessory for summer. It features an ultra-light openwork fabric that’s also super soft to the touch. Not to mention its beautiful drape and an eye-catching picot border in a contrasting shade. Wrap it around your neck or shoulders for that little bit of warmth on cool summer mornings. And when it gets too hot, you can easily tuck it into your bag.

How Much Yarn Do I Need to Make this Crochet Shawl?

The Vintage Peach Shawl Crochet Pattern by Carmen Heffernan is a one-skein project. The designer used La Bien Aimée Merino Singles to create the sample visible in the pictures. It’s merino wool fingering yarn with beautiful flecks of color that comes in 100 g (366 m) skeins.

You will also need a small amount of fingering in a different shade for a contrasting border or you can make it in the same color as the body of the shawl.

Which Crochet Stitches Create The Lace Design?

The pattern relies primarily on treble crochet stitches, so it’s a suitable project for beginners. You work it in one piece from the bottom up by increasing the number of stitches on each side. This method will let you create a gorgeous shallow wide triangle shawl.

Is Blocking Required for The Vintage Peach Shawl?

Blocking your finished shawl is highly recommended. It will help your project obtain the proper shape and even out the delicate openwork stitch pattern. For this, soak the shawl in lukewarm water for about 15 minutes. Then take it out and squeeze out the excess water gently. Now, pin your shawl flat to the mat and wait until it dries. It’s done!
