The Drop in the Bucket square is a lovely and simple pattern that makes use of chain stitches. The author made some small modifications to the overall pattern, which she explains very well in the comments to the pattern. This square has a lovely round rosette motif in the middle, which transitions really nicely to the straight square outer edges. The finished square is 12″ on a side, which makes it an excellent block for larger blankets and afghans or centerpiece for smaller ones. A link to the free pattern is at the end of the post.
